Ads for colored bell peppers, cucumbers, and tomatoes were more prominent than asparagus in many flyers due to lighter asparagus availability. Mushrooms and packaged salads were popular. Onions and potatoes were not featured as often as in recent weeks.\n\nTotal ad numbers this week were 262,308, a 10% decrease from last week's total of 290,475. The total for the same week last year was 14% higher at 262,308. The total number of ads broken out by commodity groups: fruit 154,615 (59%), onions and potatoes 19,745 (8%), vegetables 81,422 (31%), herbs 2,382, ornamentals 2,296, hemp 2,740, and honey 1,490. The number of ads for organic produce was 31,998, 12% of total ads.\n\nThe following are the prices of major advertised items (3,000 plus ads) this week, compared to the same week last year. Significant increases in price for fruit this week included lemons (2 lb. bag) at 15% and Granny Smith apples (per lb.) at 11%. Significant decreases included Bosc pears (per lb.) at 20%, tangerines (3 lb. bag) at 13%, and avocados (each) at 10%. There were no significant changes in price for potatoes and onions this week. Significant increases in price for vegetables this week included on-the-vine tomatoes at 43% and long seedless cucumbers at 20%.
