Seasonal vegetables like turnips, asparagus, sweet potatoes, radishes, beets, leeks, parsley, and peas were showcased for fresh Spring meals.  Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, grapes, kiwi, apples, cantaloupes, lemons, and mangos were on hand for memorable desserts and fruit salads.  Easter lilies, daffodils, and tulips were very popular this week, with ornamentals accounting for a much higher percentage of ads than normal.  \n\nTotal ad numbers this week were 304,073, a 7% increase from last week's total of 284,354.  The total for the same week last year was 5% lower at 288,391.  The total number of ads broken out by commodity groups: fruit 164,098 (54%), onions and potatoes 25,759 (8%), vegetables 104,488 (34%), herbs 760, ornamentals 5,995 (2%), and hemp 3,733.  The number of ads for organic produce was 36,732, 12% of total ads.  \n\nThe following are the prices of major advertised items (3,000 plus ads) this week, compared to the same week last year.   Significant increases in price for fruit this week included only strawberries (1 lb.) at 14%.  Significant decreases included seedless grapes (red at 22%, white at 17%, black at 11%) and round mangoes at 21%.  There were no significant changes in price for onions and potatoes this week.  There were no significant increases in price for vegetables this week.
