Grapes were the most-advertised fruit this week, followed closely by strawberries and blackberries. Russet potatoes, cucumbers, and mushrooms were among the most popular vegetables. Imported fruits like peaches, nectarines, plums, mangos, and pineapples brought an air of summertime to produce aisles. Daffodils and tulips brightened floral departments while St. Patrick's Day and Easter décor and gifts filled up seasonal sections. Total ad numbers this week were 283,426, a 3% decrease from last week's total of 293,337. The total for the same week last year was 3% higher at 290,940. Significant decreases included raspberries (6 oz.) at 15%, avocados at 12%, and yellow peaches (per lb.) at 10%. Significant changes in price for potatoes and onions this week included only a 17% decrease for Russet potatoes (5 lb. bag). Significant increases in price for vegetables this week included asparagus at 25% and cucumbers (each) at 19%. Significant decreases included only green bell peppers (each) at 47%.
