Poinsettias appeared in the ads, ranging from golden autumn varieties to red and white Christmas standards. Hard squashes, sweet potatoes, green beans, and mushrooms were often advertised together or alongside turkeys in Thanksgiving-themed ad sections. Cranberries, pomegranates and persimmons added to arrays of year-round staples like avocados, grapes, and berries. Citrus was also popular, with limes, lemons, oranges, and tangerines highly featured. Total ad numbers this week were 282,460, about steady from last week's total of 283,340. The total for the same week last year was 7% lower at 263,734. Significant changes in price for potatoes and onions this week included only a 17% increase for Russet potatoes (5 lb. bag). Significant increases in price for vegetables this week included sweet potatoes (per lb.) at 10%. There were no significant decreases.
